Wallpaper Installation Across Miami, FL

The short answer

We install traditional, non-woven, vinyl, grasscloth and peel-and-stick wallpaper in whole rooms throughout Miami. Each job starts with measuring and a wall check, then prep and priming, then hanging with the pattern planned from the room's focal point.

Papering a full room in Miami is a different job from papering one in a dry northern climate. Interior air here is shaped by humidity outside and air conditioning inside, walls are often plaster or drywall over concrete block, and many residents live in condo towers with strict work rules. Dream Wallpaper Installers is based in Hialeah, roughly 9 miles northwest of the city, and we hang wallcoverings in Miami houses, townhomes and apartments every week of the year. If you are planning to paper a bedroom, a hallway, a dining room or an entire floor, this guide explains how we scope the work, what we ask you to decide, and how the day of installation runs.

Scoping a whole-room job

A full room has corners, windows, doors and usually a closet, and each one breaks the pattern. The more breaks, the more trimming and matching, and the more material is lost to waste. Before you buy, we measure every wall, note the ceiling height and pattern repeat, and calculate the number of rolls with a sensible margin for errors and future repairs.

We also ask where the pattern should start. In most rooms we begin at the most visible spot, such as the wall facing the door or the center of a fireplace, and work outward so the inevitable mismatch lands in a low-visibility corner behind a door or inside a closet.

  • Total wall area minus large openings
  • Pattern repeat and match type: straight, half-drop or random
  • Number of inside and outside corners
  • Ceiling height and whether crown molding is present
  • One or two spare rolls set aside from the same lot

Choosing paper for a Miami interior

From May into October the outside air is hot, wet and stormy, and even the drier months are warm. Air conditioning keeps rooms comfortable but creates moisture differences between walls near vents and walls near exterior doors. Non-woven papers handle that swing well because they are dimensionally stable and do not expand much when pasted. Vinyl and vinyl-coated papers are a sound pick for bathrooms, kitchens and kids' rooms.

Traditional pulp papers and hand-printed designer papers are lovely but less forgiving. They stretch when wet, need precise booking times and show seams if the room dries unevenly. We install them, and we will suggest which rooms in your home give them the steadiest conditions.

How installation day runs

We arrive, protect floors and furniture, and remove cover plates. Any patching or skim coating is usually done on an earlier visit so it can dry, then primed with a wallcovering primer. On hanging day, we snap a plumb line, cut strips in sequence, and hang them in the order planned, checking the match at eye level on every strip.

Around outlets, windows and door casings we make relief cuts and trim precisely to the edge of the trim. Seams are rolled lightly and wiped clean. At the end of the day we reinstall cover plates, clean up scraps and walk the room with you.

  • Keep the air conditioning running at a normal setting during and after
  • Avoid hanging pictures or shelves for a day or two while paste cures
  • Store leftover rolls flat in a closet for later repairs

Condos and older single-family homes

In condo buildings we coordinate elevator time, parking and approved work hours with management, and we keep common areas clean. Units with floor-to-ceiling glass get a quick conversation about sun exposure, since strong light can fade some papers on walls facing the windows.

In older houses, the main challenges are uneven plaster, old paint that may not bond well, and earlier wallpaper hidden under paint. We test adhesion before priming, and if old paper is lurking under the surface we discuss whether to remove it or seal over it.

FAQ

Common questions

How many rooms can you paper in a day?

It depends on the paper and the prep. A small bathroom or one bedroom is often a single day. A whole floor with a complex pattern takes several days.

Do you supply the wallpaper?

Most clients choose and purchase their own paper. We measure and give you a roll count before you order, and we can help you narrow down options suitable for humid rooms.

Can wallpaper go over textured walls?

Light texture can sometimes be covered with a liner or heavy paper. Heavier knockdown or orange-peel texture usually needs a skim coat first for a smooth result.

Is wallpaper okay in a Miami bathroom?

Yes, with the right material and a working exhaust fan. Vinyl or vinyl-coated papers handle steam far better than natural fibers or uncoated papers.

What should I do to get the room ready?

Clear small items, take down artwork and curtains, and move what furniture you can. We handle the rest, including covering floors and removing plates.
