The short answer
We hang traditional, nonwoven, vinyl, textured and specialty wallpapers in Sweetwater homes. Every job includes wall inspection, repairs, wallpaper primer, pattern planning and clean trimming, usually completed in one to two days per room.
If you have a roll count, a pattern you love and a room in Sweetwater that needs it, our job is to bridge the gap between that sample swatch and a finished wall. Dream Wallpaper Installers is based in Hialeah, roughly eight miles northeast, and we hang wallpaper in Sweetwater bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and living areas. This page walks through how we plan, prepare and install, and what local conditions we keep in mind.
Questions we ask at the first visit
A good installation starts with listening. We ask what rooms you want to paper, how they are used, and whether you have chosen a product or want help narrowing options. We ask about pets, kids, cooking habits and how often the space is closed up, because each answer points to a more suitable paper type.
Then we look at the walls. We note whether they are drywall or plaster over block, what kind of paint is on them, and whether there is existing wallpaper or texture. We measure everything and give you a roll count that accounts for the pattern repeat.
Types of wallpaper we install
Each material behaves differently on the wall, and we adapt our approach accordingly:
- Nonwoven: hangs with paste on the wall, breathes well and removes cleanly later
- Solid vinyl and vinyl-coated: durable, wipeable, good for kitchens and baths
- Traditional paper: soft, classic look, needs careful booking and gentle handling
- Pre-pasted: activated with water, convenient but still benefits from proper priming
- Textured and embossed: adds depth, but seams need a lighter touch to avoid crushing
- Specialty products: grasscloth, cork, metallic foils and flocked papers by request
Preparation in Sweetwater homes
Many Sweetwater properties are condos and townhouses with textured drywall, while single-family homes often have plaster over concrete block. Texture shows through thin papers, so we either smooth it or recommend a heavier product. Glossy paint gets a light sanding, holes are filled, and old wallpaper is removed rather than covered.
A wallpaper primer goes on last. It seals the surface, evens out porosity so paste dries uniformly, and gives the paper some slip so seams can be butted precisely. It also makes the next removal far easier, which future you will appreciate.
Our approach to pattern and seams
We plan the room so the eye lands on a balanced, centered pattern. Strong motifs are centered on the main wall or around a focal point. The final mismatch, which happens in nearly every room, is tucked into a corner behind a door or a tall piece of furniture.
We hang from a laser or plumb line, match each strip carefully, and roll seams gently so they close without squeezing out paste or flattening texture. Around windows, doors and outlets, we make relief cuts and trim neatly. After each wall, we wipe the surface clean and inspect the seams in raking light.
Heat, humidity and storm season
Sweetwater shares the South Florida pattern of hot, wet summers and mild winters with no truly dry season. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and power outages during storms can leave homes warm and humid for a while. We use adhesives suited to the climate and avoid hanging on walls that are still damp.
Once your paper is up, the best care is a steady indoor climate. Running the AC consistently and keeping bathroom fans in use after showers will help any wallpaper perform well for the long term.
A room-by-room look at Sweetwater floor plans
Townhouses here often stack a living and kitchen level under a bedroom floor, with a stairwell that connects the two. That stairwell is a tempting place for paper, but tall walls and angled cuts along the stair stringer make it one of the slower areas to hang. We bring the right ladders and planks, and we plan the pattern so it stays level as the stairs climb.
Single-story block homes usually offer long, uninterrupted hallway walls and bedrooms with one or two windows, which suit larger repeats. Condo kitchens tend to be compact, with tile backsplashes and cabinets that leave only narrow strips of wall exposed; a small-scale print or a textured vinyl often looks better there than a dramatic large motif. Powder rooms, the smallest space in most homes, are where clients feel freest to experiment with dark colors, metallics and bold florals.
Thinking about how each space is used and seen helps us recommend where wallpaper will make the strongest impression and where paint might be the simpler choice.
We also install wallpaper in Doral, Medley, West Miami, Miami Springs and Hialeah Gardens. Share the rooms and the paper you have in mind, and we will schedule a visit to measure and discuss the plan.
